BMW Ghost Immobiliser
The Ghost uses the CAN data bus for communication with your vehicle. This stops thieves from replacing the ECU or adding new locks to bypass the security system.

Stop & Start
If you've ever driven a brand new BMW or utilized the stop start feature, then you might have noticed that once stopped the engine will still continue to run for around 30 seconds after you release the brake pedal. This is due to the BMW engine management system constantly monitoring your vehicle for signals from the ignition key, and once this is found it will continue to run. The Autowatch 2 Ghost immobiliser prevents this from happening by stopping the car when you press a button.
Our BMW ghost immobiliser, a next-generation device, doesn't require you to cut OEM wires or install key fobs or alarms from the aftermarket. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network and is programmed with a unique PIN code which is accessible through buttons on your car. This allows you to enter an exact key-push sequence that isn't found available in the usual menus for media, such as volume up/down, cruise control, source or turning on air conditioning, which prevents your car from starting unless this is entered. The PIN could be between 4 and 20 digits which makes it extremely difficult for thieves to figure out or break.
We can also include a service/valet mode. This is activated while your vehicle is being maintained so that the Ghost is kept from view by the garage. You can activate this by pressing the service button five times on your infotainment unit (the system will flash in confirmation) and the Ghost will automatically rearm when you return.
Ghost immobilisers are highly recommended for top-of-the-line automobiles. It's totally undetectable and doesn't require cutting any factory wiring and can disable the engine of your vehicle when an incorrect pin code is entered. Service Mode / Valet Mode

If you are parked at home or in an event where you meet and greet, the Ghost can be switched into service mode which allows you to start your car with your keys normally, but prevents the engine from being started until the proper code is entered. This is a great option for those who have to hand their cars to valet companies or other trusted friends and family members. It also lets you take the car to the garage for repairs, maintenance etc without worrying about it being taken away or altered by a mechanic whilst you are waiting.
When the service/valet mode is activated, your BMW is unable to drive after it is started. This prevents anyone else from testing driving it while you're away. After you return, the car will revert to normal and will not be altered or stolen.
The Ghost can be fitted to any BMW. All you require are the correct keys because the device does not utilize the original remotes, but can be used with them. We are TASSA-registered, DBS-security checked and fully certified in system installation. If you don't wish to use a smartphone, or don't feel at ease with it, we can provide an optional Bluetooth tag that can be used to turn off the Ghost. This is an additional cost and requires a different Bluetooth pairing.
Anti-Hijack
With hi-tech thieves becoming more and more sophisticated, the security technology has to change, that's why Ghost has developed this discreet and discreet immobiliser. It is designed to prevent thieves from using an ignition key or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive it off. Ghost connects to your CAN data network and uses the buttons in your vehicle (steering wheel and centre console, as well as door panels) to create a unique push sequence which requires to be completed before the engine can start.
Once the anti-hijacking mode is activated, any attempt to restart the engine will be blocked. When the system determines that the vehicle has stopped moving it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, in case it is not able to find the correct code it will also stop the engine (where possible). The Anti-Hijack feature can be disabled by entering your push sequence or by enabling service mode, which allows your car to temporarily start and drive without having to enter your PIN.
If you own an GPS device that is connected to your BMW it is possible to use it to disable the Anti-Hijack function to allow you to use your navigation system when the vehicle is in a parking spot. You can also use your smartphone to control the anti theft feature, as well as other functions.

Remote Control
We can connect the Ghost device to your mobile application to allow remote control of keyless start and go functionality. This is useful when you need to be somewhere in another location and valet or mechanic needs to start your vehicle. The system lets you start your car by selecting drive and then exit the service mode without having to use your key fobs. You can also see your vehicle in real-time on a map on your smartphone, perfect for tracking your car when moving around.
The Ghost can be positioned under the dashboard or within the center console. It is completely hidden and tamperproof and does not require any extra wiring. The device is connected to CAN Data Network of the vehicle (similar to Ethernet cable) and a personalised pin code is programmed into it. This pin code has to be selected prior to the engine's start. This prevents thieves from using a copied key or replacing the ECU to disable this system.
If the vehicle is stolen, the Ghost will enter service mode and disable all functions unless you have a PIN code or can use the mobile application to disable it. This feature was developed to safeguard your vehicle from thieves with high-tech equipment who utilize relay boxes to steal it. It also prevents thieves from being able to use their mobile phone to turn on your sat-nav or MP3 player to locate your vehicle!
Ghost also blocks the 'Relay-style Frequency amplification'. This is the most common method of stealing a car with a keyfob that's been copied, or stolen by hacking. Ghost enables you to prevent this by installing a security device to prevent theft in your vehicle, called Secure-A-Key. The device is inserted into the key-fob of your vehicle and then disconnects the battery after a few minutes of inactivity. This is possible on all modern PKE key-fobs.
